<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt;">Birth trauma can occur in several ways; it can be an event
during birth that violates a woman's respect for her body and her decisions, it
can be the result of a birth that did not go as hoped, it can be a birth in which the
mother did not feel supported, or it can be a situation </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt;">in which</span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt;"> the mother or the baby's health or life
was in jeopardy, or where there was a loss of a baby, or loss of reproductive function. "Childbirth is
experienced as traumatic in up to 34% of all births, and about one-third of
those women have symptoms of Postpartum Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD)." ImprovingBirth.com. My suspicion is that this number is actually
higher, based on the amount of unnecessary interventions often used during
births, the lack of information shared with mothers during the pregnancy or
the birth process, and the absence of true informed concent.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Birth trauma, despite growing
numbers is not a normal part of birth, and it doesn't look the same for all
women. Some women have an obvious traumatic birth experience in which her well-being
and the well-being of her baby were truly in danger, there was a loss of a
baby, or where there was an obvious lack of respect from her care provider. However,
others are left with a feeling of sadness and void after a seemingly normal,
routine, and positive birth, not understanding what has occurred, only to
realize, sometimes months or even years later, that the trauma was caused by
routine practices and procedures which left her feeling disconnected from her
birth experience and her baby.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">With increasing amounts of
unnecessary interventions, a lack of understand of the emotions and physiology
involved in birth, and a lack of evidence based practice, unfortunately birth
trauma is on the rise. Thankfully there are things you can do to reduce the
chances of birth trauma and increase the chances of a respectful, supported,
safe and loving birth experience. Finding a respectful care provider, hiring a
doula, reading about evidence based practices, and seeing a counselor to
overcome past birth or other types of trauma, are all things that are helpful
in preventing and/or overcoming birth trauma.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As a counselor, doula, and
especially as a woman who has experienced birth trauma both personally and as a
witness, I have a unique perspective on what a woman can do to help reduce her chances
of experiencing birth trauma, what support she needs if she is going through a
traumatic birth, and what support is helpful in overcoming a traumatic birth. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I spend time with women
before birth, helping them gather the information they need to make informed
decisions, overcoming past trauma (if necessary), encouraging them to listen to
their instincts, helping them formulate the questions that will help them find
a care provider that provides up to date evidence based practices, will respect
their wishes, provide them with support, and give them all the information they
will need to make a truly informed decision. This is how I am able to help
improve birth and reduce a woman's chances of having a traumatic birth. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Thanks to Improving Birth, a
national nonprofit organization spreading the word "about women being
capable of making safer, more informed decisions about their care and that of
their babies, when they are given full and accurate information about their
care options, including the potential harms, benefits, and alternatives,"
women are beginning to see and understand the choices they have in childbirth,
and are making the choices which improve their birth experience, reduce birth
trauma, and empower them to have beautiful and safe births. In Improving
Birth’s campaign “Break the Silence,” more and more mothers, fathers, and birth
workers are coming out and talking about birth trauma that they have either been
a victim of or witnessed. Birth trauma is not normal, and it should be the
exception and not the norm. By speaking up about it we will be able to bring
attention to those practices in birth which are not only unnecessary but
harmful, and pave the road for more respectful and positive births.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Being with a woman and her partner during birth, helping her navigate
her choices, encouraging her to listen to her body, supporting her in what she
needs, and helping her experience birth in the most positive way possible, are some
of the things I can do as a doula, not only to help improve her birth
experience and reduce the chances of birth trauma, but most importantly to help
her have a powerful and loving birth. If a woman experiences a traumatic birth,
I know that my presence makes a traumatic birth more bearable, easier to face
and even overcome, by supporting the woman in a difficult situation, being
there for her and her partner, helping with coping techniques and providing
support. Being there for women to help them through trauma is very important but
helping reduce the amount of women experiencing birth trauma, and what is even
better, helping to increase the amount of beautiful, safe, satisfying and
loving births, so they never have to experience that trauma in the first place is
even more important, and that is my way of improving birth and breaking the
silence.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

I've had a lot going on! Lucky to have increased the number of home births I am attending.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">When a woman is healthy and has a low risk pregnancy her best chances of having a safe, respectful, empowering and loving birth is at home. This is where I like to take my teachings to the next level, it is no longer as much about the interventions that occur, it becomes much more about each woman (and couple) (re)discovering her (their) power within. It is a beautiful thing to support and witness.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">In addition to spending time supporting all the loving births, I've increased the amount of teaching I do. Both privately and in groups. In order to provide parents with the best tools and information possible I recently became a <a href="http://www.blissborn.com/" target="_blank">Blissborn</a> Educator; a wonderful program that provides tools of self awareness, deep connection, and self hypnosis to help create the birth they envision.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I also upgraded to an awesome new phone that takes great pictures. I capture these special moments when I get the chance at no additional charge.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I am thankful for testimonials like the one below (which can be found on my <a href="https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10212689334442961&substory_index=0&id=1074143993" target="_blank">Facebook</a> page) to know that the love and dedication I put into each woman's birth comes across.</span></span><br />

<i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"Zeresh played a critical role in helping us manifest the at-home water birth of our dreams. Through various mental, emotional, and physical exercises, she expanded our knowledge and nurtured our confidence in the natural birth process. Zeresh helped cultivate a sense of calm that was crucial in maintaining a healthy mindset for optimal pregnancy and a smooth delivery. Her wisdom comes from the heart; she speaks from passion, experience, and with great respect for the mother and sacred process. She is an anchor for when questions or uncertainties arise, but she doesn't press a personal agenda - rather listens intently and addresses issues as a whole. There were even times during her sessions that my partner and I came to tears of happiness...better communication and understanding between us was definitely facilitated by Zeresh...something for which I'm forever grateful, on top of all else! Finally, when the big day came, Zeresh was first on the scene. Every move she made was with great intention and without hesitation - the marks of a professional acting intuitively. She knew just what to do and when to do it, and perhaps most importantly, she knew what not to do and helped keep the birth team in alignment with our plan. I mostly just remember, though, that she was my angel that night. Of course I now recommend her services at every opportunity. She is the ultimate natural-minded cheerleader, confidant, and doula to have by one's side during these most sensitive and precious times. Zeresh will be an invaluable asset on your journey. And if you're lucky like me, she might even cook scrambled eggs for you while you're snuggling your newborn during those first skin-on-skin moments. We loved her and you will, too. Cant thank her enough for being there for us. Much love, Miloš + Nichole + Vukašin 🌹"</span></i></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">So what does that mean? For the whole picture you will wait and see but for now it means that I have decided to end my full time position with Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies; it has been wonderful and I have enjoyed my time with each and every mother and baby I have had the pleasure to support. HMHB is a wonderful organization, the work they do and the people that work there are one of the best I have ever encountered, but it is time to serve my family, and mothers and babies in another way. <span style="color: black;"><b>Folate vs. Folic Acid.</b>
Folic acid and Folate are often used interchangeably and is recommended
during pregnancy, and even months before pregnancy in order to help
prevent birth defects and other health issues. But did you know that
there is a difference between Folic Acid and Folate? And that it is a
very important difference that could be affecting your health and the
health of your baby? For more info visit:</span> <a href="http://chriskresser.com/folate-vs-folic-acid/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://chriskresser.com/folate-vs-folic-acid/</a></span><br />

<span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #339933;"><b>Natural Birth Tip:</b></span><br />
<span style="color: black;"><b>GBS. </b>Is a test that is done
routinely in the US around the 37 week of pregnancy to check for a
bacteria overgrowth in the perineal area. If a woman tests positive she
is told she will need IV antibiotics during birth. We do it here, but
why isn't it done in the UK? (hint: studies show results can change and
that antibiotics carry their own risks) I will let you research that one
on your own... But in the mean time here is a link to an article with
some tips on how to avoid testing positive and how to even reverse it: </span><a href="http://wellnessmama.com/8680/avoid-gbs/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://wellnessmama.com/8680/avoid-gbs/</a></span></span><br />

<span style="color: black;"><b>Birth PTSD. </b>Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder takes on many shapes and forms. Many don't think it can
be brought on by birth, but regardless of the outcome if a mother feels
she has a traumatic birth experience she needs to take the steps to help
her heal from it. Ideally before the next pregnancy. Here is some
valuable information on that:</span><span style="color: black;"><b> </b></span></span></span></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><a href="http://www.midwiferytoday.com/articles/healing_trauma.asp" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://www.midwiferytoday.com/articles/healing_trauma.asp</a></span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;"><b>Birth World</b>:</span><br />
<span style="color: black;"><b>Newborn Hats.</b> So it seems
that in almost every birth picture you see the newborn babies with those
cute little hats... It is even a part of the adorable newborn first
outfits... They have them at every hospital and the newborn nurses
always insist on putting them on... but... are they really necessary?
And could they even be harmful? The answers may surprise you:</span><a href="http://alovingbirth.us9.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d58e75606f19973a6c7441fa3&id=7797aaa299&e=c7b206921c" style="color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank"> http://modernalternativepregnancy.com/2013/09/06/take-it-off-why-you-should-drop-your-newborns-hat/#</a><br />

<span style="color: #339933;"><b>Natural Birth Tip:</b></span><br />
<span style="color: black;"><b>The epidural.</b> It is not
only about having a natural birth, it is about understanding the risks
and benefits of the epidural. Sometimes it is very helpful but other
times it causes more problems. Here is a link to an article tells you
what you need to know about the epidural:</span> <a href="http://alovingbirth.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d58e75606f19973a6c7441fa3&id=c826888fca&e=c7b206921c" style="color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://www.bellybelly.com.au/birth/epidural-during-labour/</a></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: darkgreen;"><b>Parenting World:</b></span><br />
<span style="color: black;"><b>Secure attachments. </b>We all
love our children, we all want to create a secure attachment with them,
so why is it that according to this study 40% of children lack secure
attachments??? Could it be that our "modern" way of living and doing
things is removing us more and more from listening to our intuition and
what we know to be right...???</span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: black; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I
would bet none of my clients lack secure attachments! It is my
priority! That is why you will rarely, if ever, see me in a pic holding a
just born baby, because that baby belongs with his mommy! They have
enough interruption as it is... Plus I educate them on the importance of
skin to skin, breastfeeding, night time parenting, safe co-sleeping,
and baby wearing... all things that can be done in the early stages to
help create a secure attachment. </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"> Here is an article that shares the study and what things can be done in order to help create a secure attachment: </span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://alovingbirth.us9.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d58e75606f19973a6c7441fa3&id=95f6cefed3&e=c7b206921c" style="color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">http://www.bellybelly.com.au/parenting/study-children-lacking-secure-attachments/</span></a></span><br />

You will (re)<b>discover instinctual positions to ease the birth</b> of your baby and be the one to <b>catch your own baby</b> with your own hands and/or with the help of your partner. We will achieve this with <b>weekly or bimonthly custom and private meetings</b> throughout your pregnancy, from the time your contract services until your birth and into the post-partum period. </span></span></span></li>

I hope this post finds you well!<br />
<br />
As we are in <strong>season for being thankful and the season for giving</strong> I want to <strong>thank all my clients</strong> for the opportunity to support them in the most amazing way possible; in <strong>the miracle of life</strong>, what an amazing gift and moment to be thankful for! <strong>I am so grateful!</strong> <strong>In appreciation I am hosting a Client Appreciation Gathering</strong>.
I look forward to seeing all the women and their partners that I have
supported on their journey to parenthood, and seeing how big and
beautiful their children have grown. I will be sharing pictures of our
gathering in a future post.<br />
<br />
Are you still looking for <strong>the perfect gift for a mother-to-be</strong>? There are so many things this highly consumerist society</span></span><span style="font-size: 14px;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"> tries to convince mothers that they need! I know, I was one of them! Then <strong>I realized that all my baby needed was love, nutrition and warmth, and that my arms could provide it all... </strong>and
for when my arms could not provide it? Maybe some clothes and a safe
place to sleep... ok and some diapers ;) unless you plan on doing
eliminations communication (see more on that below). I also learned that
what made for the most loving and peaceful birth experience was the
care and support I received during birth. With the high rates of
unnecessary interventions and c-sections it is something that is very
overlooked! One of the reasons I am a doula!<br />
<br />
So it comes from the heart and a place of service that I say that <strong>one of the better gifts a mother-to-be can receive is doula services</strong> to help her <strong>welcome her baby with love and peace</strong>.<br />
<br />
In the spirit of giving get <strong>$50 off the Basic Doula Package</strong> and $<strong>75 off the Full Doula Package</strong> if you purchase services <strong>by December 25th, 2015</strong>.<br />
<br />
Also, please remember that <strong>for any mother-to-be that you refer and contracts doula services</strong> with<strong> A Loving Birth</strong> you will <strong>receive a $25 gift card in appreciation for your support</strong>.
Just fill out the gift certificate below for the amount of $50 (on me,
or more if you want to add to it). You will get a $25 gift card and the
mother-to-be will get $50 off doula services!</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">So, do you
really know what a doula does? Do you know there is evidence supporting
the role of a doula? Did you know that doulas can help reduce
c-sections and unnecessary interventions and help achieve a natural
birth? Well continuing the theme of doula services today I will share a
link on the Evidence for Doula Support...<strong> </strong><a href="http://evidencebasedbirth.com/the-evidence-for-doulas/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://evidencebasedbirth.com/the-evidence-for-doulas/</a></span></span><br />

What is Elimination Communication you say? It is watching your babies
cues for when they need to use the potty starting at birth! Yes that is
right! I never put it into practice although it sounded interesting but
with my busy and unpredictable life style not something I was able to
do. However, I feel it can be really great and work for some pare</span>nts. So here is more on that <a href="http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com/elimination-communication/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com/elimination-communication/</a><br />

We have started our bi-monthly <b>meditations</b>! It is so nice to <b>take a moment, quiet your mind and connect with your baby</b>.
Having a baby growing inside you can feel so surreal. Taking a moment
to slow down and make that conscious connection with your baby can make
it all that more real and special! The next meditation is scheduled for <b>Tuesday, October 13th at 5:30 pm.</b><br />
<br />
On <b>Saturday October 10th </b>we will be starting our <b>4 weekly 2 hour Childbirth Education Series.</b> Can't make it this week? No worries, you can jump in at any time! But make sure you RSVP as space is limited.<br />

will follow suit soon. In the mean time there are obstetricians in
South Florida, with knowledge and experience, willing to deliver breech
births. So if you or someone you now is in this situation please know
there are other and safer options. Contact me and I will be happy to
help you navigate them. To learn more about the safety of breech births I
leave you with the following links.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: georgia,times,times new roman,serif;">There are also <b>things that a mother can do to help her baby turn head down,</b> <a href="http://www.spinningbabies.com/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">www.spinningbabies.com</a> is a great resource for that.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #339933; font-size: large;"><b><span style="font-family: georgia,times,times new roman,serif;">Natural Birth Tip:</span></b></span><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
<span style="font-family: georgia,times,times new roman,serif;">More and more mothers are <b>choosing to have a natural birth</b>, and it is not surprising because the <b>benefits for both mother and baby are many</b>, and the risks for unnecessarily medicated births are real. So what are some things you can do to <b>increase your chances of a natural birth?</b>
There are several, but today I will only touch on one. We discuss how
to achieve a natural birth in my classes and it is part of the support I
provide my doula clients (if they so choose).<br />
<b>Today's tip:</b> The choice in <b>care provider is key</b>
in helping you achieve a natural birth. Your care provider will provide
more or less support and make suggestions for interventions, or not.
Depending on the type of care provider these interventions may be more
or less necessary, and can be based more on their preferences and
beliefs than on actual evidence. A good resource to help you make
informed and evidence based decisions is <a href="http://www.evidencebasedbirth.com/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">www.evidencebasedbirth.com</a> But keep in mind there is still a lot we don't know about birth... so <b>always listen to that voice inside you</b>, no matter how soft, it is always there to guide you.<br />
So the next question would be, <b>how do you know if your care provider is supportive of natural birth??? </b>I
will be happy to help you find one, and accompany you on your journey
to parenthood; one of the many supportive roles I take on as a doula. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: georgia,times,times new roman,serif;"><span style="color: darkgreen;"><b>Parenting World:</b></span><br />
I often hear and see the questions:<b> Is it necessary to supplement my breastfed baby with Vitamin D? </b>We
know that Vitamin D has become very popular recently and that it is
estimated that most Americans are deficient in this essential vitamin...
so when it comes to our our babies, what are we to do? <b>Isn't breastfeeding supposed to be a perfect source of nutrition for our precious little bundles of joy!?</b>
The answer is YES! So where does that leave vitamin D supplementation?
The following research suggests that if the mother has adequate levels
of vitamin D the baby will get what he/she needs through breast milk.
Here is the research article explaining what breastfeeding mothers can
do to insure their babies are getting adequate amounts of vitamin D... <i><b>Maternal Versus Infant Vitamin D Supplementation During Lactation: A Randomized Controlled Trial </b></i><a href="http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/136/4/625.full.pd" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/136/4/625.full.pd</a></span><br />

<b>News in the Birth World</b>:<br />
Did you know that the <b>baby is the one that starts the birth process</b>? That it is actually<b> something in the baby's lungs</b> that is released into the mother's blood stream that initiates labor? Did you also know that <b>they just recently discover the actual proteins</b> that are released by the lungs!!?? They discovered it a few months ago after many years of research. <b>The baby is the driver of labor.</b> It is so <b>important to respect the chemical process that takes place in a beautifully orchestrated fashion</b>. To learn more about this incredible finding see this link: </span><a href="http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/06/150622162023.htm" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/06/150622162023.htm</a><br />

It is hard to find <b>evidence based holistic dental services</b>, well, I am happy to say I did! Although a little far for us, as they are <b>located in Miami</b>, it was <b>worth the drive</b>.
I took my daughter in who is prone to cavities. My son who is 7 years

After one visit I feel it is the right choice for us and I am happy to refer them to anyone seeking a more <b>holistic approach to dental care</b>. I hope this post finds you well!<br />
<br />
I have a lot of wonderful news to share and I finally have a return date to Florida!<br />
All the workshops that I organized through <a href="http://www.barbaraharperespana.com/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">www.barbaraharperespana.com</a>
this June in Spain have been a success!!! The two full weeks of travel
and workshops were filled with learning, inspiration, open minds and
open hearts! We have shared days with midwives, doulas, obstetricians,
pediatricians, heads of obstetrics, heads of hospitals, mothers, fathers
and babies! There have been tears and smiles, questions and answers,
and a desire for more! It has been an honor and a pleasure to organize
all these workshops and be the professional interpreter for Barabra
Harper, an amazing woman and world renown midwife, author, gentle birth
expert and the founder of <a href="http://www.waterbirth.org/" style="-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">www.waterbirth.org</a><br />
Here are some pictures of the workshops :)</span></span><br />

I have to say being around such amazing people and so much learning I
too have been able to soak up a lot of that learning and knowledge,
ready to continue my journey not only as a doula but as a student
midwife! That is right! I have finally decided to take the plunge and I
have started to study to become a midwife!<br />
In the mean time I am available and excited to be taking on new birth
clients for due dates in September and beyond, I will be back in Florida
at the end of August. If you are pregnant or know someone who is please
feel free to email me or call me to see how I may best support your
pregnancy and childbirth needs. (My Florida number is operational and of
no cost to you even if you call me while I am in Spain).<br />

L&D nurses are very knowledgeable and respectful, a great support for moms

mother’s experience all that more positive. Thankful for the amazing nurses
that have been and are supportive of mothers in labor with a desire for natural
birth. </span></div>

L&D nurses when seeing a natural birth plan will think it is just a matter
of time before it ends in a c-section. Those thoughts alone can really affect
and derail a mother’s chances of natural birth. Supportive nurses check those
feeling at the door. It is normal that mothers with natural birth plans that
end up having a c-section stand out more than others, specifically because of
their strong wishes for a natural birth. However, in the US the c-section rate
is 1/3, and in some states and hospitals over 50%, so unfortunately it is very
likely that a mother will end up with a c-section, not because of her birth
plan but because of unnecessary interventions. Another reason to respect a
mother’s birth plan. Supportive nurses respect that birth plan, or if a deviation
needs to be made, explains why beforehand; most moms will be flexible if a true

moment, don’t assume she is not doing her job, the doula is most likely
checking in on the mother and making sure her needs are being met). Often times
a mother that has a doula is well prepared to make evidence based decisions.
If a mother is doing something against
protocol it is not because the doula “told her” to do it, the doula is there to
support the mother’s decisions even if those decisions are against protocol or
even against the doula’s own personal beliefs or opinions. A respectful doula
will support the mother without getting in the way of the nursing staff, stay
by the mother’s side but step away when needed. A doula will also be glad to help
the nursing staff in any way she can, such as helping so that the nurses don’t
have to run back and forth with ice, water, towels etc. So if allowed and
helpful, nurses can show the doula where the water, ice, microwave, extra
towels, chuck pads, gloves, vomit pails etc. are; a doula should be more than
willing to help provide the mom with those things and help keep mom and her space

will be leaving for Spain on June 8th. I have a couple births coming up
between now and then and am willing to take one more. However, I am
slowing down a bit and will not be offering the free classes or
meditations in the next few months because I am so busy organizing
Barbara Harper's (internationally renown midwife, for you non-birth
junkies) Waterbirth Workshops that will take place in Spain this June.
It will take place in 4 cities in Spain and they are continuing to fill
up! Very excited about that! You can learn more at <a href="http://www.barbaraharperespana.com/" style="color: #6dc6dd; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank">www.barbaraharperespana.com</a></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
Because of these workshops and my annual visits to Spain I will not be
around for classes or births in June and July (unless you are in Spain,
or want to come with me!). I don't have a return date yet, but will
return for any clients that book with me with due dates around or after
August. The next blog post will be when I have a return
date. Until then I wish you a happy Spring and Summer.</span></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6684490069165093615.post-62596215916096059422015-02-26T11:02:00.003-08:002017-03-14T11:02:38.386-07:00March classes<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I have a wonderful birth to share with you and information on classes being held.</span></span></h3>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I
had the pleasure of getting back into the swing of things this new year
with one of the most beautiful and sweetest births I have ever had the
honor of serving. Luckily it seams that more and more clients are making
informed decisions that help them create the birth they want. This last
birth was with a repeat client who had a previous difficult hospital
birth. With that experience behind them they decided to have a home
birth with respectful midwives which lead to a sweet, gentle and fast
birth. What does that mean? It means doing what the mother wants, being
in the position she wants and were she wants, spontaneous pushing (never
told how and and how hard to push), in an upright position as the baby
is being born, as the baby gently emerges (no pulling on the head), baby
guided into the mother's arms by the mother's hands, while leaning on
dad, no suction, no hat, placenta is birthed on its own, the the cord is
cut with no hurry, skin to skin, low lights, and taking a moment to
take it all in. It truly is so beautiful to witness such a miracle, I
feel so blessed!<br />In addition to accompanying women and their
partner's in pregnancy and birth I feel it is very important to create a
good foundation for a relaxing and trusting birth. That is one of the
reasons I enjoy offering pregnancy meditation and childbirth education
classes, to help women create that foundation for the birth they want.<br />We
had our first guided meditation on February 3rd, with the company of
some lovely pregnant women. In the <a href="http://www.alovingbirth.com/p/childbirth-ed.html">Childbirth Education</a> tab are the classes and meditations offered
the rest of this month. You can also register <a href="https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/home?studioid=2659" target="_blank">here</a>. I hope you can join us and that you help us get
the word out to help create even more loving births!<br />As always, thank you for your love and support,<br />Zeresh, CD, CBE, M.Ed.<br />561-808-3142<br />zeresh@alovingbirth.com<br /><a data-cke-saved-href="http://www.alovingbirth.com" href="http://www.alovingbirth.com/" target="_blank">www.alovingbirth.com</a></span></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com
